James went to visit the cardiologist today for his check up. Thankfully, the update is short and sweet-everything pretty much looks the same. In the world of heart/valve problems, this is a great thing! The breakdown of his aortic gradient:
- January (surgery follow up): 26 AG
- February: 50 AG
- March: 42 AG
- May: 46 AG
His blood pressures continue to look great (all within 10 points of each other) and his pulses also look great. The echocardiogram shows that although his aortic valve still looks extremely abnormal and thick, James' body is acclimating very well to maintain good blood flow-simply put, he is doing great and we are extremely grateful. The cardiologist said although he can't guarantee anything, he is somewhat hopeful that we can hold off valve surgery until after James turns a year old-maybe not even until he turns 2! How awesome would that be? I think I will still go into every cardiologist appointment thinking it could be any day, and of course you never know what might chnage in between appointments. Regardless, we are so grateful for his progress and feeling very blessed for all that James is.
James will go back to the cardiologist on 7/13-hopefully his tests go as smoothly as they did this time around, the echo tech had me nurse James while she was doing the echo, and though that might sound weird, it worked so very well and we got done in half the time. Happy Day!
