Goodness gracious. You know, we live in AZ, the land of very little rain, and yet, it has to rain on a night where we tend to do a lot of stuff as a family! Our plans definitely shifted as a result of the rain. We were going to go see a few different light displays, and while we tried the first, it was just too wet and cold to try the others. The kids gave it an excellent effort-I was proud of them!
We always doorbell ditch the house with the best light and leave them a candle with a thank you note for sharing their holiday spirit.....so many houses didn't have their lights on though, I assume because it was so wet, so it took us quite a while to find a fitting winner. We did, thank heavens, but it definitely took a while! After that, we headed back home to make our homemade pizza-a new tradition that we just started last year. Jared got to join in since he didn't have to work this year, and that was pretty awesome! We cute the pizza in long strips, and that really enthused the kids!
We decided to let the kids open one present this year, which Jared ceremoniously delivered in his Santa bag (in reality a garbage sack, lol!). It was so fun watching the kids open their little gift, which I was tickled about when I found these at walmart!
The pillows set the stage beautifully for our family movie, which was the Grinch this year. We had hot chocolate and made our own chex mix with a wide variety of ingredients-that was a fun addition to this year's traditions! We all chowed down during the movie and I caught some heart-warming little moments of the kids snuggling together.
Jackson's hand over Jordan is just so cute!
As our final activity, we laid treats out for Santa and proceeded to sprinkle reindeer food all over our front yard to attract Santa. The kids were just so excited-I love Christmas Eve!
The final thing Jared and I had to do was finish wrapping presents. ORIGINALLY, we had planned to set up the trampoline tonight, but the rain put a complete damper on that one--and we are still not sure how we are going to reveal that to the kids! But we had a good lot of gifts for the kids, and we will have a great day in the morning, I am sure!
